We have recently observed the season of Advent. A time of promise - God’s promise to all people that a Savior would come into the world to redeem them from the power of sin. Jesus came. God faithfully fulfilled his promise.
Living Waters Lutheran is evidence of God’s faithfulness today. A small group formed 20 years ago, lead by Pastor Kendrick. Then more joined and a new faith community was formed. Later a small church was built and subsequently a larger church. God faithfully fulfilled his promise.
Now what does all of this have to do with us today? Our lives are filled with abundant blessings because of God’s faithfulness. Our hearts are filled with praise and thanksgiving which is evident from our worship and the time we offer to others.
Our financial giving too, reflects our thankfulness for God’s faithfulness. Each year we have an opportunity to fill out an “estimate of giving” sheet. We can then give our offerings as we choose. Many choose to give on a weekly basis, others monthly, and still others write a check for the full years giving in January.
Which method of giving fits best for you? I choose to give on a monthly basis. It works best for me as I get paid once a month. Perhaps you get paid on a weekly basis, then once a week may fit best for you. Get paid twice a month? Every other Sunday seems feasible. I had a friend a few years back who paid the full year’s amount at once because she knew “the church has need of the money”. It is easy once a routine is set up. Then using the method that is best for you, prayerfully give consistently…regardless of the amount.
May God bless us all as we grow in “Faithfulness”.
